I'll tell you right now, if you get a dwarf caiman I will report you to the proper fish and wildlife authorities in whatever state you recide in. It's illegal to purchase dwarf caimans, they are critically endangered species.

Dwarf caimans are perfectly legal to purchase and own in most states. Check with local laws though.
Keep off the forum if you don't know what your talking about. People asking questions expect honest answers from knowledgeable people not people just spouting off.

I agree with crocodil. If you don't know what you are talking about, then don't answer honest questions that people are asking.Go to another forum and bash people and try to get them introuble for nothing at all.We all in this world need to try to be kind and more respectful of others.IT is NOT illegal to buy dwarf caiman. They are appendix II animals. They are threatened, but not endangered.

dwarf caiman aren't even threatened. all crocodilians have to be listed on at least appedix II. dwarf caiman don't have people to fear in the wild because their skin is too boney and isn't good for skin produces. they have no enemys basically. So there is nothing wrong with keeping them just dumb state and local laws in some places.

Try looking in the classifieds. There lots of dealers selling dwarf's.As for the size,it depends on the sex.Females get about 4 feet and males get 5-5 1/2 feet.I started mine out as a hatchling, and it took about 5 years for it to reach adulthood.Remember that this animal will live to be about 60 years if cared for properly.I have had mine for 10 years.Hope this helps.

Thank you for the info i know they are very dangerous but when you go to clean your cage or feed does he aggressively try to get to you or are they more laid back as long as you aren't trying to touch them? and as far as care they take alot of care right? and what price would be a resonable price to excpect to pay for a healthy dwarf baby? thanks again

As for my caiman, she is tame to me.In her cage she is fine, but out of her cage she is a different animal. My caiman lets me pet her behind her neck. She has never attacked me.That is not to say she NEVER WILL though. My dwarf crocodile will attack every time,so will my nile.As for price I would say $180.00-$250.00 is the going price. The care is not bad if you invest in a lot of money on the setup.I would say about $5000.00-$10000.00 to setup right.
