Opinions on ground walnut shell substrate for hatchling tortoises?

Any opinions on ground walnut shell substrate for hatchling desert tortoises would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I used it at one time with no ill effects. I would feel safer usinf it for something 2 years or older. Those little chunks might not make it through a hatchling.
