Hello everyone,
I have done quite a bit of reading on this forum and it seems as though you all know what you are talking about. I recently (last March) bought a beautiful 1 1/2 foot green iguana from Ben Siegel's place down in Sarasota, Florida. Initially, it was not squirmish or violent at all, but once I got him back to Ohio and set him up in his current enclosure his attitude began to change rapidly... I have it on a diet of mainly Collard greens and papaya, with calcium and vitamin supplements added (even though collard greens dont really require the accompaniment of extra calcium) and he is still as green and beautiful as when i bought him. He is now around 23 1/2" though. Is this change in attitude linked to the establishment of territory and if so is there any way to lessen the amount of hostility towards me? Any experiences or methods will be appreciated greatly. Also, with his current rate of growth and current length, does anyone have any estimates as to the age of this little guy/girl? Thanks again, I am very glad to have found a nice little informative community such as this.
