IJ carpet python help

jasonmattes Sep 09, 2004 08:36 PM

I have a pair of carpets that seem to want to soak all the time.
The male is almost 6ft and the female is about 4-5 ft..
they are housed together, although i just separated them today to see if that helped anything.
They dont have mites and i sprayed for them just incase the temps are 85 on the warm side.
They just shed a couple weeks ago so i know that isnt the problem
The female acts fine and eats really good. the male acts fine also but doesnt eat as well as he used to, he ate two weeks ago and didnt seem real interested in it but he did eat..he usually attacks his food and.
Any help would be appreciated..i dont know if he is sick or just wants to soak...

Thanks Jason

Well, if they don't have mites, you are sure they haven't been exposed to internal parasites, and you're keeping humidity above 50%...Then yeah, I'd say they are probably just wanting to soak.

My Adult pair of coastals (especially the female) likes to soak around this time of the year. They both have gone through a phase for about a month or so between Sept-Oct were they just want to soak for the past 2 years. I couldn't even tell you why, and the first year I was almost in a panic because I couldn't figure out what was wrong...I'm waiting to see if they do it again this year. We shall see

They havnt been anywhere to get parisites.
I dont have a humidity gauge but i think the humidity is above 50 here anyway..I live in western oregon..plus they have a pretty big water bowl so that should help too.

Thanks Jason
