That new anaconda movie...

angelawina Sep 09, 2004 10:05 PM

I just wanted to discuss this new Anaconda movie. Is it just me, or is this yet another stab at the reptile world. It is because of movies such as this, that the general population is terrified of snakes. The media has exploited snakes and the "terror" that they strike in people is, in my opinion, a crime. You are WAY more likely to be bitten by a dog, cat, HAMSTER, bird.. man, I mean EVERYTHING bites. I have been bitten by all of the above MANY times, yet in the year I spent as a reptile manager at several pet stores, I have been lucky enough to be bitten by a snake. I am very careful, because I am not fond of being bitten, but still... anywho, this movie makes me mad. But that's just me...

Seriously what did you expect to see when you went to this movie? Did you expect the anaconda was going to be in a 4 foot by 8 foot cage while a guy with a booda belly feeds him frozen thawed rats? Or maybe you wanted the Anaconda to slither up to the people in the movie and enjoy being handled.

I agree that these movies don't help our cause but come on people know its not like this. Granted there are alot of misconceptions when it comes to snakes but nobody is dumb enough to believe the stuff in this movie.

So basically all i'm saying is relax its just a movie.

Its not the fact they have killer snakes I dont think...we understand the concept of a thriller. But complete lack of geography and facts. I could have written a better script for this movie. It was not too hard and this movie did not even try. 1. I would take the macaws out 2. It would not be mating season and the anacondas would not be territorial there is just a bunch around and they are hungry 3. Give a reason for being in borneo...this island in borneo (being known for snake worship) was given these snakes hundreds of years ago by explorers and when the tribe could not handle the massive sizes of the snakes (from feeding the animals in the area that ate the orchid) they started taking over. I would have liked this way better because even though it is stupid...they still try and give some reason. Having the anaconda woods guy know the location of anacondas and explain why they were there would have made it way better and would have taken up some time to eplain the story instead of the long dragging on of that one guy slowly turning evil. Anyway..I am done talking about that worthless movie.

Oh don't take me the wrong way Eunectes i'm not defending the movie I'm basically saying if you don't like it don't see it. All you are doing by seeing this movie is supporting the uneducated dopes that made it. Kinda ironic huh? The thing to do was to never see the damn movie to begin with not see the movie, line the movie makers pockets, then cry foul.
