Toe nail length

carlos1 Sep 09, 2004 10:32 PM

Hey Guys,

My caiman doesnt have any rough surfaces in her tank to naturally wear down her toe nails, esp the rear ones. The inside toe is about 2" long and the outer is over an inch. I know you should not trim them, but what do you suggest as they will just continue to grow. What is a "normal" length seen in captivity?

Thanks!

I would trim them back at the length they are at now. I would also increase the amount of abrasive material they climb on in their enclosure.

Are you keeping them in a very smooth environment?
