For 4 frogs I would get atleast a 20 gal tank. There are many frogs that are excellent to start with such a Auratus, Luecomelus, or Azureus to mane a few. Mostly depends on the amout of money you want to invest on them. Myself I got some Green & Black Costa Rican Auratus. They are awesome frogs. I am sure you will be thrilled whatever you decide to get. Just be fore warned this is a hghly addictive hobby.

I agree with tony, but I would advise to not include azureus on that list. As froglets they would be OK, but as we all know they do get bigger, and fights are sure to break out in a group of 4 in a 20 gallon. Auratus and leucs are very good beginners, however.

I agree with the above opinion, for the most part. i would suggest starting with D. Auratus, because they are pretty easy to take care of, and they are the least expensive out there. i've seen green and black auratus at about 35 each. Of course, there are also other morphs that can cost a bit more. i would also up the suggested cage size to atleast a 29 gallon or a 20 long.

auratus can be shy though. I would say the staple dart frog to start out with would be leucomelas given there bold nature, and they are reasonably priced as well.

Actually I decided I'm gonna go with a 40 gallon breeder tank as the enclosure, so size and aggressiveness of the frogs shouldn't be too big of an issue. And I'm not a begginner except with dart frogs, I've owned several species of treefrogs, horned frogs, african clawed frogs, dwarf frogs, anything native to Ohio that I can get my hands on(lol), firebellied toads, and various species of toads. I've been into this for 18 of the 20 years i been alive. Here's a pic of my female horned frog too.
