WTF pics

bootsofleather Sep 10, 2004 12:01 AM

Does anyone happen to have any pics of red leg in WTF's. I don't really think mine have any real problem, just look a little pink. Nothing else is wrong. They're active and eat great, so I'm not too worried. I just haven't been able to find any pics to make sure. Thanks.

I dont have any pictures, but can help you. Your WTF should have pink on the inside of its legs. They all do. You will know for certain if you frog has redleg is it is red and blistering. Redleg is a bacterial disease that can proove rapidly fatal. Since it can be communicable, isolation is nessasary. The bacterial pathogen Aeromonas sp. is often but not always implied. Cleanlyness and a sutable temperature regime almost insures this disease id never incountered; foul water and land areas and a chill will insure its onset. The cause seems to always be present, and seems to only happen if your frogs immune system is compromised. Tetracycline hydrochloride seems to be a favourite home remidy (use the dosage for tropical fish) but pathogen sensitivity tests followed by treatments done by a qualified vet are better. So unless your frog is a bad environment or is allready sick, chances are, he dosnt have redleg. I hope this helps. Good luck finding pistures.

It's not exactly a full leg shot, but you can kind of see her legs....either way i like the pic I wouldnt worry about a little bit of colour under your frogs legs, its when it starts to get blotchy, and unnaturaly red that you should take your frog to get some medical attention!
