Its very hard to tell. It can be as young as 3-4 years of age. It all depends on how fast the owner(if captive raised) allowed it to grow. Powerfeeding them can get them big very fast. At this size, if it is Captive born and raised (usually pyramided) it probably has $4,000 in food into it.
Hi, would be nice if you could post a pic of it. That seems
awfully light for that length to me. I would guess about
4-7 years old. There's no such thing as powerfeeding tortoises.
Is your length straight line or curved over the top? If
curved the weight might be better, what's the straight
line length? Anyways, best thing is to add lots of
calcium via cuttlebones regardless.
I hope you didn't pay a lot for it, like I said in the other
response below, there's no way at that small size you can be
positive it's female, you could be certain if it was male if
it fanned, but if it hasn't - so what. There are torts over
30 pounds that still haven't made themselves known. Don't
tell me anything about carapace or tail shape or anal scute
shapes, we've been over this on this forum and made comparisons
and it just is inconclusive. If you were hoping for a female
keep your fingers crossed.
