Has anybody looked at the classifieds lately...?

I was looking through the classifieds here on Kingsnake, and I came across an ad for a boxie. I looked at it, and saw three pictures of a box turtle like I've never seen before. I have attatched the link and one of the pics below. Does anyone know what kind of boxie this is? It's face looks to be eastern, but it's shell has me completely bewildered.

it's a threetoed box turtle. Cleaned up and maybe with some shine put on it's shell. It's markings are bright (which can be from shining the shell, photography, or post photograph tricks, or natural) but not abnormal for the subspecies. Threetoeds have probably the largest variation in markings of any of the north american boxies (gulf's have similar variations).

My first thought was that it was a three-toed, but then I doubted that idea, as I had never seen colors and patterns that stricking on a three-toed before and also it's head looked to be that of an eastern. That lead me to believe that is may be an eastern X three-toed mix, or maybe even an ornate X three-toed hybrid. I'm gald to know that it is a three-toed, but no matter what it may have been, it is a very stricking and beautiful animal.

it's definitely a nice looking three-toed.

I used to give all my turtles a good washing once a year and take photos, when I have them still wet, they look a lot more colorful and striking than they do dry, or especially diry and muddy out in the pen (their natural state). Take a look at my photo albums at www.aileo.com (under the "nathan" menu, "photo albums" and there are three albums of turtle stuff). My photos from last year with Hermes and PrettyBoy make them look a lot more fantastic than they do most of the time cause they are slick wet and freshly cleaned and scrubbed. They are good looking animals normally, but it does make a bid difference.

That's one reason I won't buy animals without seeing them in person or trusting and knowing the person I buy them from.

That looks like a florida box with the high domed top shell. It may be an intergrade with an eastern.
