I just started with mice. 1.2 ratio. Both girls have had theeir first litters. actually a few days ago. So now they're gonna eat them? Can somebody clear up this up for me? I'm gonna be pissed if I'm breeding mice just so the moms can eat.

Some mothers will eat their young, if thats the case don't rebreed them they will always be carniviourious. I had a mother who successfully raised her babies to eye openeing and then ate them. Those are no good mothers. I always leave the moms to be on their own becase other females or males will eat babies also. It is fustrating and if your snakes eat FT and are big enough to take on rat pups, that will be the easier way to go. No cannibilsm there.(the odds are wwayyy better)
I have 4 tanks of mice, one has 2 females raising one females babies as i fed the other females babies to my young corns and now I have yet another small plastic container with an expected mom as well. I have lost too many leaving them in their colonies while having babies and it is hard to tell who is the baby killer that way also.
So hope all goes well and keep things quiet, mice are more jittery and will carry their babies around and drop them where ever when disturbed.

My roomates are2 boas, 4 corns,Rotti,3cats and snake food AKA the food chain.
Mice tend to be a little more high strung than most other mammals that humans raise. Being at the bottom of the food chain might be the cause. They actually seem to do better if you don't bother them too much.
That is one reason I raise rats instead. The other is that I don't have baby snakes and rats are perfect size for me in a couple of weeks.
Don't worry though, if you need mice. Most mom's settle down. Read the posts from Sonya, LdyPayne and MissHisssss. Between them there is not much that is not known about raising mice.
Good Luck and keep us posted'
