Golden Tree frog

CroBiatach Sep 10, 2004 12:29 PM

I was thinking about getting a couple of golden tree frogs (Polypedates Leucomystax). I've been looking around on the web for caresheets, info, etc, but I was wondering if anyone kept them and could give any helpful tips about caring/keeping them. Thanks oodles!!

hey i got one its pretty easy to care for. i keep mine in a ten gallon tank tilted sideways. anyways i feed mine crickets once a week i give her six calcium dusted crickets. also i clean her tank once a week, i will soon get her a new bigger aquarium. preferably a twenty gallon high aquarium. so thats the kind of tank i would get my frog. there pretty easy to care for, but handling can sometimes stress them out. mine always hops away from me. anyways golden treefrogs are great, but if your just starting to get into frogs i would get a white's treefrog or a green treefrog.

Polypedates Leucomastyx are great frogs to have in a tall aquarium set-up. I currently keep a male, and he has a lot of character. You should keep the humidity and temperatures relatively high for this species at all times as it is a tropical species. I have a false-bottom in my set-up which has a water filter and I have plants as well to do this for me. I also expose the tank to 12 hours or so of light using a small lamp.
