Aggresive dragon

cynicaleuphoria Sep 10, 2004 12:37 PM

Curious to see if anyone else has an overly aggressive dragon. He's a complete sweetheart with me. Anyone he doesn't know though, he'll either puff out or bite. I thought beardies were suppose to be sweet when tamed? He's cute though. I adore him to death.

None of mine are aggressive, but all my adults beardies seem like they can tell a difference between myself and my wife. I think these guys truly are the "dogs" of the reptile family.

Are you the only one to handle him on a regular basis? Many types of animals will become bonded to a single person when this is the case, especially parrots and such (which I also have).

My mother has also handled him, rarely though, but enough that he won't threaten her. He just seems a bit cautious with her.

BD's seems to learn who is around them and when any strangers come or the room changes they may take notice and freak.

an example:
when I put my bd on my hand and start to walk I can feel her tummy tighten up at first and then relax, and if I walk outside and any birds or dogs or other stuff are near the same happens...

they know whats "normal" and watch out for any thing that may be a "Threat" in thier point of view.

you may want to find a few folks who will handle the db with you each week or two.... if the dragon learns that other big humans are safe then the fear recation will go away.

thats what the displays are for... to try and bluf the possible enemy into backing away...

I have figured as much, but I have yet to hear of another dragon actually resorting to biting.
