Nothing like a picture of feeding snakes in a disgusting, feces contaminated water bowl.

` Oops, caught me a troll. I really wasn't bottom fishing, honest.
` Thanks for coming up from the bottom, Prof., to comment on my pix.
` I usually don't bother to respond to trolls, but your vituperous tongue surprised me. You must have one very high opinion of yourself, however, I don't. You'll get no more of the attention you crave from me.

Dude, I hate to tell you this, but Chris is not a troll. Far from it. In fact he's a long term member of this forum and very highly regarded as a Herpetologist/Herpetoculturist. I would be willing to bet a few paychecks that he's forgotten more about General Biology, Herpetology and reptile Husbandry than you'll ever hope to know.

It looks to me like he was simply calling it as he saw it. When you post a picture (or anything else) on here, you are opening it up to comment, be that comment praise or criticism. If you don't like that sort of criticism, my suggestion would be to clean your cages before you take photos you intend to post.

Also, it might pay to know who you're taking on when you decide to lash out in that manner.

` He jumped in, failed to understand my pictures, arrogantly judged them, and got nasty. He asked no questions, just got nasty. That's not a troll?
` Or, is it his job to dispense judgment and condemnation on these forums? And, is it your job to be sure no one objects to such rude behavior?
` Most of us snake keepers see a little scat, from time to time. If I see a good picture, I'll take it, then clean the cage. Those too prissy to see a little waste, should collect stamps.
` This is about being egocentric, and rude.
` It is nice of you to inform me of just who I'm taking on, though. I will try to be more properly intimidated.
` Cyber space has given a safe haven to the frustrated bullies who shrink from confrontation in person. Give them a safe place to run their mouths, and they will grow some temporary backbone, every time.
` It is sadly too common that many with large egos, and weak resolve, use virtual space to strut, huff, and puff. You certainly aren't very accountable when you're not dealing in person.
` They also generally have in common the fact that they follow the general thinking, when trying to lead. That's quite safe, too.
` If you want to have sacred cows, they should at least be prime beef.

No surprises here.

I didn't judge your pictures at all. I simply commented that the water bowls were filthy and contaminated with feces. Nothing more, nothing less.

Or, is it his job to dispense judgment and condemnation on these forums?

Judgement and condemnation? Don't take it so seriously. Relax.
Note, I said nothing about you as a person, simply commented that I thought it was pretty gross to see your snakes sitting up their eyeballs in feces contaminated water. If my snakes were sitting like that, I would fix the problem, not feed them. You are entitled to do as you see fit, however.

And, is it your job to be sure no one objects to such rude behavior?

I'll leave this to OH to comment on, although I hope it leaves it alone.

Most of us snake keepers see a little scat, from time to time. If I see a good picture, I'll take it, then clean the cage. Those too prissy to see a little waste, should collect stamps.

Prissy? Sorry if I spell something wrong, but I'm busy laughing. Anyone who knows me knows I am anything but prissy.

Oh, and BTW, there is some snakesh*t in some of my cages right now. But I don't think it would make a good photo.

This is about being egocentric, and rude.

My comment wasn't particularly nice, agreed. However, how you imply egocentricity from it is beyond me, Dr. Freud.

It is nice of you to inform me of just who I'm taking on, though. I will try to be more properly intimidated.

Intimidated? Are you off your meds?

Cyber space has given a safe haven to the frustrated bullies who shrink from confrontation in person. Give them a safe place to run their mouths, and they will grow some temporary backbone, every time.

Case in point. Couldn't agree more. I didn't make a single comment about you, simply that your photo showed a snake eating in rather unhygeinic conditions.

Careful, your defensiveness is showing!

It is sadly too common that many with large egos, and weak resolve, use virtual space to strut, huff, and puff. You certainly aren't very accountable when you're not dealing in person.

Weak resolve? I step forward and point out something about your husbandry and that is a reflection of my weak resolve. If I came to your house and pointed it out to you, would that make me more resolute.

They also generally have in common the fact that they follow the general thinking, when trying to lead. That's quite safe, too.

Maybe I'm not as smart as you....what the hell does that mean?
Are you implying that I don't have leadership skills? How would you know?

If you want to have sacred cows, they should at least be prime beef.

Sorry, too metaphysical for me.

BTW - Looking at your pics, I realize you and I have had differences of opinion in the past. You posted pics of your communal cages with Ball Pythons and Eunectes here, and I commented that I didn't think it was necessarily a good idea to house the two species together. You flew off the handle that time as well.
