Feed during shedding?

MyLeftArm Sep 10, 2004 02:02 PM

I have read NO feeding during shed period. However, i think either my boa is in the world's longest shed period (2 weeks now) or i misinterpetted his coloring too early as being blue... (this is his second shed, and i calculated the first one correctly).
anyway, since he's gone 2 weeks what seems like an endless shed cycle without shedding yet (and boy is he scaley, the humidity is fine by the way), is it ok to feed him?

General question: does anyone feed f/t during shed cycle routinely without incident? What is rational of not feeding during shed:
Possible regurgitation due to stress of snake?

I have never had a problem with feeding during a shed cycle, some boas will refuse though. Craig

That's what i had always heard, that they may refuse to eat.
I thought that feeding during shedding was a no-no for those feeding live prey, maybe because the snake can't see well enough and could get hurt. But i read a care sheet today that said just No feeding during shed.

I`ve never had a problem with it ?as long as their eyes are clear and its feed day then they`ll get a rat like the rest. I think they have figured out if they dont eat on feed day they have to wait till next feed day so they pretty much hammer down when given the chance.
