definately a female three-toed. You could check if she was gravid by palpating, but you would have to cut off your fingernails to do that (at least on your pointer fingers).

I do have mutt youngsters that are three-toed/eastern mixxes. Might want to consider separating them to prevent it.

Thank you so much!!

How could you tell it was not an eastern??

Thanks again

the coloration is completely different between the species. Easterns typically have a dark brown to black base color on the shell with yellow/cream to orange blotches on it. Three-toeds have a tan base color with either no markings or orderly markings similar to the radiating dashes of an ornate but much more subdued.

Their skin color ranges are different as well.

Definitely a female. The previous pics also show she has a short little tail - males are longer larger - take a look at your male eastern.

Just a helpful hint, you need to put some rocks, or something abrasive in her enclosure, as her toe nails look like they are starting to get too long, which could/may start hurting her. Also, if you could put the food on kind of rock, her beak will wear down a little better.

You may want to try some kuttle bone (spell?), which is a great calcium supplement.

Her nails and beak were like that when I got her. I have an appointment at the vet next week for get her beaked trimmed. Good Idea???

I just moved them both to a 75 gallon and they seem to like it much better.

Thanks
