When people post pictures of turtles that they call fat, I have a hard time seeing it. Just how do you tell if a turt is fat? Thanks.

good question
sometimes people say that their turts have "flab" hanging out by their rear legs...what they don't understand is turtle skin by the arms/legs are stretchable...when a turtle is breathing heavily the "flab" moves in and out (just watch your turtle you'll see this)...the only way to tell if your turtle is obese is if he or she has a hard time pulling her head in all the way...full grown RES only need to be fed every other day or once every 3 days (but leave cuttlebone and vegetables for them to snack on the whole time).
Maggie,
How old/big to they have to get to be a full grown RES?
Mine are prob 2".
Thanks for the info. I'll monitor them closely. I want them to be fit and happy turtles! They're only 1.5" now...
