NizBit the Nubby!!!!

zombielove Sep 10, 2004 04:10 PM

Here is a picture of a leo that i got today. she's not really 'mine' because i'm keeping her for my boss. [Tom Cypress Creek Reptiles]. he used to breed leos, and she was an escapee. he let her live wild in his rodent barn to eat the roaches that are attracted by the rodent feed and she's been out there since like '96 i think he said. well, he decided to poison the roaches and caught her so she wouldn't eat a poisoned roach and he asked me to take her home. well i went through the trouble of setting her up a lovely little home that she seems to be having fun in. he said her name is NizBit, but i wanted to name her Nubby because of her deformities, so now she is NizBit the Nubby. she's been living wild so she sustained a few injuries, as you can see her tail is one big nub because i'm sure she's lost it more than once. her left hand has really short fingers and her right hand doesn't have fingers at all - yet another nub. i hope that he lets me keep her. she's high yellow and has beautiful eyes and i would just love to breed her. she's a little dinosour and she 'roars'. hehehe. so cute!! enjoy the pic!

the tank looks good and your gecko is very cute! What are you using as substrate? (sp?)

I have a new leo named Mr.Crowley. He lives in a 20 gallon long tank all by himself. Here is a picture of him if you go to the url below...

aww very cute!! i remember when my other leo was that small!! [she's 70 grams now and 9in long]

i am using something that Tom gave me. its a Calcium pebble substrate.

my husband and i are going to start a leo breeding program and will be making a rack for all of the leos. i think we will use something easier to clean up then, like butchers paper or something.

Yes, there is a chance. Calc sand is 'supposed' to be digestable. anyway - i use Calc sand just incase. see, she never injests the sand because i put her food in a seperate dish - filled with calcium powder. and the pebbles crush into powder if you squeeze them, so i think its easier to digest if she does eat some - but the pebbles are pretty large and the only way she could eat it is if she just started eating it for no reason - which she wouldn't do. in the picture you will see a rock in the middle in the back - her food is in that dish and it can't get out. i feed her super worms and waxworms. i've tried pinkies with my other leo, but she wasn't interested.

Btw, If you didnt already know waxies can be addicting to the leo and can cause them to get fat.

Calci-sand will cause impaction i dont reccomend sand period but if you had to vit-sand is what you should use.
