Can you feed your gecko JUST calcium dusted meal worms? Or do you HAVE to feed them crickets too?

Mealworms by themselves are fine (just make sure to gut load 'em) but adding crickets gives them a little variety and something to hunt.

Ok thats good, My mom wont let me have crickets inside the house. I gut load my mealies with carrots, The pet store clerk said that if you do this that it will bring out the orange stronger in your leo. Even if it isnt true, i still want to try it.

Ha bring out the color just from carrots? That's wishful thinking. Some petstore owners.. i swear should not be allowed to have abusiness liscence

Anyhue try giving your mealies a variety of leafy veggies and oats already dusted with vitamins and calcium. Bak Choi and other chinese leafy veggies are high in calcium and the mealies eat them up really quickly

good luck

My leo is very skiddish and during the night I can hear him moving around. I noticed that no mealies were dissapearing from the bowl so I hand fed him. I have also noticed that no calium powder and no water has gone and I dont think that he knows that the bowls are there. How do I show him if he is very skiddish? (there is a pic of him in my sig) Also His colour is getting lighter so Im guessing he will be shedding soon, And I have not once seen him go into the humid hide. How can I help him shed If he doesnt use the humid hide?

how old approx is your leo? If you can hand feed it, it seems pretty damn tame to me.
They only lap the calcium if they need it, i've had one leo for 4 years and i've never seen her touch it, its there just in case and it also happend to be where i feed her.
Also the water thing, they only lap like 2 tounge fulls, they need very little water and it'll be impossible to tell if they've drank any. Just keep it available, they will find it, and fresh.
Don't worry too much, it sounds like you're doing a fine job

He needs to shed and I dont think he has even been in the humid hide yet, I had to show him that there was a whole new part of the tank. Should I put a wet paper towel in his normal hide to sortof turn it into a temporary humid hide? Also I think that he is very young, There is a pic of him in my sig.

Don't worry about that either, make sure his/her humid hide is dark. A lot of people use Clear containers and wonder why their geckos don't use their humid hides. I use margerine containers with moist paper towel.
If you're still worried though the night ebfore they shed (they'll be pale and restless) spray the cage lightly and just check the next day to see if there's any left over shed

And from the looks of it yours does look very young, from my poor judgement i'd say under 3 months for sure :P

Im working on a dark hide. He succesfully shed but I see that he still has some skin on his toes...Is this a problem?

I've heard leftover skin on their toes can cut off circulation and make them lose their toes

easy, that only happens over multiple bad sheds

Make sure it has a moist hide and if the shed is still there after the next shed then give the leo a bath.
I put my leos in a rubbermaid container leave some papertowel on the bottom and fill it to their tummies with warm water and wait for about 15 min. This also works if your leo becomes constipated for whatever reason.

Ok thanks! So he isnt going to loose his toe? (I checked its only one toe that still has shed skin on it)
