There is hope for a tort with pneumonia

Beasley Sep 10, 2004 09:48 PM

I just thought I would post this to encourage anyone that has a sick tortoise to take him to the vet. I have a 6 year old redfoot that started making strange noises and I suspected a RI but never dreamed he had a bad case of pneumonia. After 2 rounds of antibiotic injections (2 a day for 2 weeks) and numerous X rays he is on the way to recovery. It is so worth the money and time and treatment can work if you don't wait too long. This is a good day!!

... of this site?

that's one of the sites that helped me decide to get a redfoot, and from whom.

either way, yours is a wonderful story. it's always hearwarming to hear of someone taking such a genuine, loving interest in their pets as family members. best of luck in your tort's recovery!

I'm not the same Beasley but I know of the site. My redfoot's name is Barney. I'm still waiting for him to eat but so far he is so much better and his lungs look clear on the X-rays. The vet says once the antibiotic stops irritating his stomach, he will probably get back to eating like crazy. Thanks for the comment.
