dumerils and red tail in same enclosure

lb0666 Sep 11, 2004 03:17 AM

Is it safe to put a dumerils and red tail in the same enclosure if they are about the same size and the tank is big enough?

I would not keep them in the same enclosure. Dumerils and Red tails have slightly different requirements and most importantly you really shouldn't ever keep two snakes in the same enclosure unless they are breeding! What if one of them is sick? Not to mention possible feeding mistakes. So simply put just don't do it either pony up the money for 2 enclosures or only have 1 snake. Just my honest opinion.

that is a tragic story.

I don't think it's a good idea. They come from different parts of the world and they have different environment requirements. There are far more cons than pros in keeping them together. If you care about your snakes, it's not worth taking the chance.
