I hope he hits the 7' mark, that would be alright! Hard to believe this guy was the little 1' long skinny hatchling just a few years ago!!
The albino is growing much the same way, long and skinny, and now the last few months he has started packing on the weight! Cant wait to see what he ends up looking like! He has calmed down alot too since he has started getting bigger, is no longer nippy and nervous.
As far as the black rats here being variable, you got that right, and not only in different parts of the state either. We found quite a few this last spring in a certain county, and only a couple looked alike. We found one that had high yellows like mine, a couple that had more blacks and browns, and one that was more grey and black. Makes one wonder what kind of snakes you could get by breeding some of these nice looking "normal" KY rats.
Take care
Brian

>> Your black rat snake is going to aproach 7 feet in a few years. I really like the Kentucky black rat snakes. I remember last year or the year before several of you Kentuckians posted pics of black rat snakes from the different areas of Kentucky. It was amazing to me that they were so variable in the same state. There was a pic of a black rat from western part of Kentucky and one from northeast part and southern Kentucky, etc. Great snake Brian and thanks for posting a pic update.
