My Juvenile Monocled Shed question

lordchristensen Sep 11, 2004 02:24 PM

My little guy finally shed. Is that why he was not eating. beings how it is Albino I could not tell that it was getting ready to shed. I had no idea until I came home and found him in the process. Would this contribute to it not being interested in food?

Hello,

I have never kept cobras, so they could be totally different. But a lot of my non-vens will not take food while in shed, especially the younger ones. So I'd say its quite possibly the cause of non-eating.

it's a little scary that you have a cobra and don't know the answer to this question, you obviously haven't done your homework BEFORE acquiring the animal...

shame on you...

Steve

Maybe I should have rephrased what I was saying. I simply could not tell if he was in the process of shedding because I could not see blue eyes like normal snakes. Either that or the blueness in his eyes disipated before I recieved him from shipping. I am aware that this will cause them not to eat. I do not want anyone thinking that I am some novelty reptile enthusiest. I actually have a great deal of experience with venomous herps just not as many elapids. Thanks for the quick observation though.
