I've heard of boas being bred as young as 3 1/2 years for females and males as young as 1 1/2 years, and I've also heard people say that 4 or 5 years may still be too young for a female to breed. I understand that a lot of it depends on the size and weight of both the male and female, but I just wanted a rough estimate on when would be a good age to begin breeding.
I've also been reading a bunch of horror stories about less than successful litters (many stillborns and slugs) and was wondering how often these type of things actually occur. I understand that I need to do much more research when it comes to breeding boas, but I'm fairly confident that a few years down the line when I actually begin my own breeding attempts that I'll be able to at least provide the proper environment for a successful litter. Assuming that everything seems to be good, what are the chances that I could have a litter with few live snakes? thanks.
