Just stressed right?

I got my beardie today. He is 3 months old and looks great. I put him in the tank today (40BR size) and then put in a few 1/4" crickets and veggies to see if he was hungry. He ate the very first cricket that passed by him, then decided to climb the driftwood under the basking light and has been there ever since.

I am going out so figured Id try and see if he wanted to eat. I was going to put him into a smaller carrying tank and feed him some crickets but every time I got close to him, he turned and opened his mouth like he wanted to eat my fingers. Im not worried about the actual bite.

Is he just stressed because of a new home? Hopefully tomorrow he will be a little more relaxed. The breeder had no trouble picking him up and outting him the carrying tank.

Thanks
Chris

Yes, it's gonna take time for the little guy to settle down in his new home, and it's gonna take at least 3 - 4 days before his appetite really kicks in. For now he's probably gonna nit-pick at his food if at all, and should be left alone until he feels more "adventuresome". Just make sure you keep him in food (greens and fruits are always good, just change them out every day if he doesn't eat them...) and don't let the crickets stay in the tank overnight. That way he'll adjust more quickly.

Also, make sure you minimize the stress-level in the room, such as, keep other curious pets away from the tank, keep a nice, regulated temp in his tank, and establish a "rhythm" to feed and water him, and in no time he will get used to you as well.

I got my baby dragon about 2 weeks ago and i had the same problem. ate the first cricket and wouldnt eat anymore. She would actualy freak out when they were in there. She would eat her greens though when I wasnt around. Well after posting on here I got some great advice. I put computer paper over all 4 sides of the tank so she couldnt see out and be destrated by the new home outside. And that gave her more confidence of her new home inside the tank. Now she eats like a vaccum cleaner.
If your dragon still has a hard time adjusting to his tank try that. it worked wonders for me.
