Need help with morph prices...

savana_man Sep 11, 2004 07:44 PM

There is a reptile show next weekend, the Dixie Reptile Show, and I wanted to get 2 baby ball pythons. But I was looking at some morphs and was wondering what the prices start out around (ie: the cheapest). I wanted to do this because usually I go to the show with like 40 to 50 bucks, but some how this time I managed to save 119. LOL!! But if they are too expensive then I can stick with the normals.

I was at the NARBC show in Anaheim CA yesterday. There were plenty and I mean plenty of high end morphs. As far as normals, just looked like the CH imports that were held onto since earlier this year and not as many as I have seen at shows in the past. The prices on these were way too high. Normal females that I believe were CH, under 100 grams, $50, and for slightly larger ones, $75-$100. Can't say what the pricing will be at the Dixie show but if it is like Anaheim, your $119 isn't going to get you there, in the door, and a pair of balls. Anaheim was $15 bucks to get in, $13 with a coupon and parking cost me $8. Even CH males were higher than expected. Definitely higher than the possible hets that I just posted in the classifieds for $35.

Should normals just be sold for 10 bucks? And maybe crammed together by the hundreds like little anoles? Maybe do an auction for them?

Yikes.

Yeah, $75 for a living thing isn't all that much. I wish they were higher. Stop the imports and normal female captive-breds will go through the ROOF. And that's not a bad thing.

......$10?.........well...they are cheaper than that...and they are crammed into cages like anoles...piles and piles of them............year olds ,even females ,from $16 and up ...........and I agree.....stop the imports a little bit and the USA born captives will be worth alot more.........even males will be sellable then maybe.............and yes...we can make enough of them here to keep the supply satiated........

I get animals around me people want to get rid of when their wives make them get rid of the dangerous ball python when a baby is expected. I will not take a male for anything more than 10$ unless I get a cage out of the deal. this is because i cannot collect male ball pythons and I will have a very hard time finding a new home and I will lose money in the process. I just try and co0nvince people their animal will nopt eat their baby. I dont like the imports either and wish we could put some more respct in the aspect of them being an animal.
