NARBC Anaheim Show

gnmdragons Sep 11, 2004 08:56 PM

I just got back from the show today in Anaheim, and I was very impressed! It was very well organized and clean, with a lot of new vendors. It was well worth the 15 dollar admission fee! I'm thinking about going back tomorrow. We will definately be a vendor there next year. Look for us, we'll have some killer dragons!

the narbc was definitely worth going to,although it was congested with ball pythons and the like, they still had some nice high end and interesting reptiles, for i pretty much look at the crazy price as an admission fee to see an albino nile monitor,a 19 foot retic, and tommorow a 100 pound alligator snapping turtle...
justin,

I think I missed the albino nile

What about the snapper? I didnt see that either. And I thought that Bubba the alligator was going to be there, but we didnt see that either. Huge show though, I loved it. I hope there will be another one next year.

This show was definately the BEST SHOW EVER ON THE WEST COAST!!! I just hope it is here to stay. It was very nice and clean. They even had cold water you could drink after you get all tired from going vendor to vendor. It was nice to finally see vendors from the East Coast over here. I do think all the ball python morphs alone could have filled a single room, those guys were awesome. Did anyone catch the albino iguana and the reddish orange looking iguana? I thought the promoters said that there wasn't going to be any wild caught animals at all???
There was certainly quite a few wild caught animals that were there and for sale. What was up with that?
Great show though, hope to be there next year again to pick up some more animals.

Which ones were wild caught? I dont recall any.

I think I missed the albino iguana. I saw the reddish one, but the only other one in the cage was green. The vendor I asked wasnt sure, but thought that the green one was the albino, but the eyes were closed so he couldnt tell. Didnt look albino to me though.

AUSSIE-DRAGON Sep 12, 2004 04:39 PM

From what I saw all the wild caughts were turtles. There was box turtles, twistnecks, south american snakenecks.

metalpest Sep 12, 2004 04:43 PM

Why are they wild caught and not captive born?

Did you see the two headed turtle?

AUSSIE-DRAGON Sep 12, 2004 05:05 PM

Trust me they are wc and there was a couple more different species also. I went to the show to buy turtles and thats why I noticed them. Yeah I saw the siamese red eared sliders.

metalpest Sep 12, 2004 08:42 PM

Why didnt you vend this year? I hope the show gets a lot bigger next year, Id like to see something comparable to Daytona over here on the west coast. Looking forward to attending next year!

AUSSIE-DRAGON Sep 12, 2004 10:27 PM

Why didn't who vend this year?
Something like Daytona over here would be awesome. I think that there are a lot more herpers out on the east coast than over here thats why we haven't seen anything that big. This show is a good start though. I just hope that there are more turtle vendors next year, that's what I went for this year. There certainly was more turtles available at this show that at any other show put on before. None of the turtle people from the East made it to this show though. The snake selection was amazing at this show though. I used to be a snake guy, but now my turtle collection has taken over. Great selection overall and its good to know they were from some of the top breeders in the country.

I dont have any babies to sell. I have a few pairs of snakes that are still young, but I do hope to vend one day.

Im a snake guy, so the selection worked out great for me. There was the one booth with a ton of baby turtles, Ive never seen anything like that at a show before. I thought it was cool to see all those different kinds of turtles. I saw several people walking around with several turtles too. Maybe that will turn on the light in some of the breeder's heads and help to get them over here. Id like to see more vendors from the east over here next year. Great show though!

gnmdragons Sep 13, 2004 07:27 PM

We did not vend, because we completly sold out of our beardies for this season. They were gone as soon as they were ready. After attending this show, I am planning to select a few killer hold back dragons for next years Aneheim NARBC Show.

metalpest Sep 13, 2004 07:32 PM

That one you have is the best looking one I have seen.

Where did you sell them at? If it was another show, might as well do that. The booths were $295 this year. That seems like it would be difficult to sell enough animals to make good money to me. Im going to make sure we have a good sized inventory before showing up at an expo, they are all so expensive to get booths at.

OK I have to admit the show was awesome. I went on sunday and it was still crowded there. Much more better run and clean then the last IRBA show in July down in SD. In one of the rooms the first vendor were sellin baby cb water turtles... he was weird and did not have anymore of his cards on sunday, anyone catch his website or info? All the vendors were kewl, seems some in the second room were a bit mad because everyone was at the other one, even though Oshea was there. I guess the 15 bucks was worth it after all. The place was packed with vedors, though there could be a bit more veriety. I even picked my self up a nice ball python. The place were NARBC hard was great, they had refreshments and nice cold water. I might make the drive up to LA when it happens. I guess its good now that four Reptile shows go down a year, IRBA and NARBC, not including the Tort expos. Well i guess I'll see you guys next year, hopefully it comes more often then once a year. More shows from the East Coast should come on over to SoCal.

Dont you know about west coast reptile shows? I picked up a flyer for it, its going to be in orange I think on oct 30-31. I went to one earlier in the year and it was pretty small but a decent show. They told me this one was going to be bigger than the irba shows, so Ill check it out and see.

Ryan-reptilian Sep 13, 2004 02:22 AM

I missed the flyer for that one. Can you post the info for it please or maybe a link to a site that has info on it.
I picked up a baby Gray Banded King from the Reptile Industries (Mark and Kim Bell) booth at the show Sunday.
I'm not familiar with them so if anyone has any opinions on them, I'd love to hear.
This was my first show and I was very impressed! My only gripe is that there was 2 rooms. Would have been nice if somehow they could fit all the vendors in one room. But on the bright side, you could walk around with a cold one while checking out some great looking Herps!! Beer and Herps go hand in hand!!
I guess there isnt a shortage of Ball Python breeders! Like Metalpest, I would like to see some more pits in the future.
Rock on NARBC!!

I guess its held by the guys at radical reptiles, they had the flyer and the links to this site on their main site. They told me this show should be bigger than irba, but the one in victorville earlier this year wasnt. That may be because its in a smaller area. This one is pretty close to irba san diego though, I wonder if people will sell all of the good stuff in San Diego and not have much left for this one. Im not taking the trip to San Diego anymore though, thats way to far for me. Ill stick to NARBC and the victorville show (because its close) and we will see about this next show on halloween weekend.

As for the greybands, Id go into the grayband forum, I dont know much about them.

i don't know if west coast reptile shows will get any better than narbc one reason, hots are illegal here also it seems that the ball python, cornsnake, bearded dragon,etc.. demographic outweighs the high end demographic for the time being, the show was awesome but it was also repetitive on account of demand,i went their primarily for turtles, but also was on the lookout for nice red and black bloods, outstanding chondros, and arboreal monitors, and out of all those vendors i was hoping to pick up a pancake tortoise, although their weren't any turtles i wanted their they pleasantly suprised me with a larger selection, although i didn't leave with anything their were some outstanding animals that "wowed" me,i will definitely go back next year.

metalpest Sep 14, 2004 11:11 PM

I dont understand your reasoning with hots and such. I dont think west coast shows will be bigger than narbc because they dont get those east coast vendors like the guy with all of the cool baby turtles. I thought the selection at this show was much better than any other so cal show I have attended. Ill still be at west coast because I like to see the animals and all that the vendors have to offer, as well as pricing to compare with.
