Venus Fly traps & cresteds together!?!?!?!

Psylynt Sep 11, 2004 08:56 PM

Was wondering if putting these toghether is a bad idea. Building a vivarium & thought it might be a nice touch.... just don't want to hurt my little buddies. I've seen pics on this forum of someone's setup w/ pitcher plants & cresteds. Just not sure about the fly traps... Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

yea i really seriously doubt the flytrap would pose any danger to your crested geckos. to small frogs maybe, but i doubt even a baby crested would get stuck in a venus flytrap. its just tough keeping those things alive.

Actually, I don't think they are hard to keep alive at all... anyway, it might work, but they need temps a little higher than ur crestie, rember these plants are from the carolinas.

Well, lucky for me I've planted them near the top of the vivarium near the flourescent bulbs. My enclosure is about 34"W X 34"T X 15"D. My apartment stays in the lower 70's. My enslosure's sides are glass w/ a screen top. Humidity should hopefully stay fairly high... I'm going to place thermometers @ the bottom & top of the enclosure to monitor varying temps... I'll attach pics soon. Thanks for the tips.

I had to take my fly trap out of my vivarium. It didn't harm the cresties. It was the other way around. The fly traps are just too sensitive and got trampled by the cresties. Pitcher plants are much hardier and can deal with being crawled on.
