No problems, it's what I use for mine, I get huge bags of it for $5.50 each at the local feed store. John

I switch from cedar to pine as i understand the oils from cedar can be harmful to the boas stomachs when taking food from there, even after being frozen etc they recommend you wash them but why hassle, so i switched.

There are oils in the pine too. It's ok to use but you are taking your chances with it. Some rats are sensitive to it. In the long term it can cause liver and lung problems.

I've used pine bedding in my rodent breeding for over 10 yrs now..gerbils, hamsters and rats and never had a problem with it or with the snakes/lizards the feeders were fed to. The oils in cedar are A. 10 times more potent than whats in pine. B. Have higher concentrations and C, don't dry out like pine will with a good enough airing. I get a 5 cubic ft bag for $3 from a place near me that makes pre-fab log cabins.....
