Is burrowing normal? Plus another question

silenthill Sep 12, 2004 10:27 AM

I saw my boa burrow twice under the substrate yesterday. Is this normal, or is it a bad sign? He hasn't crapped yet either. I've had him for 10days, and have fed him twice. Also I have never seen him drink water from his dish, but when I mist the tank he licks some water off of his hide tree.

Your boa is burring to "hide" - personally I say this is normal. If there are no hide spots in yoru cage they are doing this to feel more secure - for the most part. My boas would do this when I used apsen - now with newspaper they will sometimes hide underneath the newspaper.

Also I rarely ever see my boas drink water. Sometimes when i spray down the cages they will lick up some water drops, but I dont think you have anything to worry about. As long as you keep a water dish in there, im sure they will drink when they are thirsty =)

My baby burrows under the aspen all the time. I rarely see her out from under it. I also rarely see her drink water so I think thats fine. Make sure she isnt crapping under the bedding because mine has done that some also.
