This is somewhat related to Riiot girl's post , i know that thier can be an amazing degree of variants to this question so it really is a general question asking for opinion rather than solid fact..

what do you think would cause these animals to suddenly turn thier attitude and become nippy? i know that we must rememmber that these animals function off of pure prehistoric instinct unlike a domisticated animal such as a cat or a dog

I have found that little ones are more likely to bite out of fear of being eaten. With more handling they tend to calm down as they grow. I have had a funny experience. Only my females have tried to bite me. I have never had one of my males try to bite. I was wondering if Linda H. or anyone else with a lot of babies had a similar experience. Chris Ginkel

I have had good luck with haveing tame females except when they are hungry or after giveing birth. I have had more problems with males, one of my males is the most aggressive snake I have ever owned. He is always thinking of a way to bite my face every time I open the cage, I will never hold this snake without pinning his head down and restraining it first. All my other boas calm down after leaving the cage but not this guy. He also has a huge 8 or 9 inch scar on his back from his previous owner. I'm not sure what happened but this may be the cause of his temper. I'm glad I have aggressive males and not a huge 9ft female Suri with an chip on her shoulder.
