New hides.....

lilroach56 Sep 12, 2004 04:05 PM

well today i went to Franks (local garden place) to get some new hides for Rhianon and some plants and soil for peaches.
When i got home after watching the 'Skins game (GO SKINS!!) i made the new hides. And Wow does she loves those 9" flower pot bases, as soon as i put them in and showed them to her she was off. No more hiding under the newspaper anymore.

Hey,
Very nice! what are you using to cut the opening for the hides. I've had the worst luck cutting them open, and make terrible openings using this product.

I actually went to the White Plains, reptile show today, and found some hides I had been searching for. They are the black hides, made by ESU, that are no longer manufactured. They use to be found at most Petlands, but now I can't locate them anywhere. Anyway, I got luck today.

i use a hammer (i like smaller ones the best). I just chip a hole in the side then i tap lightly to smooth it some.

Hey,
Thanks for the info. I've used the hammer technique, though not very good I must admit. I've ruined quite a few. LOL! Anyhow, here is what I'm using now.

you could just have the tile guy at a local home depot or hardware store cut it for ya.

Oops..you must be talking about clay....I have made a couple hides out of clay planter pots...i used a dremel tool to grind out the drain hole in the bottom and the snake would go in that way...it worked really well..very dusty though..
