Humidity problem

charky2002 Sep 12, 2004 06:33 PM

Recently I have been having ALOT of problems keeping the humidity up in my CWD enclosure. Does anyone have any tips(besides regular misting b/c I already do that) to keep the humidity up, I was told to keep a small dish of water under the heat lamp but it seems to me that it would get WAY to hot. ANy suggestions would be much appreciated thanks .

I myself used to have the humidity problem. I have a crocodile skink who has to maintain a humidity of 80 - 100 %. If i only misted then i was having to do that all day. There is two options. If you can afford it you can by the foggers. If you can't afford it you can do like i had to. Only because i have more than one reptile that has to maintain humidity and didn't want to have to buy a fogger for them all. I used plexi glass and drilled holes in it for air. You don't want to drill to many holes or it defeats the purpose. You don't want to drill not enough or the air will get stale but one hole about an inch apart should do it. Then when you mist the humidity will stay in there for awhile or until the next time you can get to mist again in a reasonable time frame. Note* be careful when drilling holes in plexi glass, it is not as easy as it looks. I hope this helps you.

you can also use a water dish with a simple air bubbler in it, like the ones used for fish tanks
