Hi, I am putting a new enclosure together and wanted to use some tree bark and logs from outside. Is there anyway to "sanitize" the bark from mites and other pests that may harm my dragon. Thanks for your help.

If they are small you can wash them really well with a water and bleach solution and then bake them in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes or so. If they are large, scrub them really well in a bathtub with the same ten percent bleach solution and then let them soak in hot water for awhile. Then I usually lay them out in the sun to dry. Use a good stiff brush to clean the logs. The first time I cleaned a large log (about 7 feet long and 50 pounds or so) I didn't let it soak and ended up having flying ants hatch in my cage. They didn't hurt the dragons any, and most just drowned in the water area, but still it wasn't something I want to have happen again.
