What is going on?

port513 Sep 12, 2004 07:13 PM

My PacMan lies under the substrate and don't come out event to bath.

Before this weird thing he ate 2 large cockroaches and after that I haven't seen him walking around at night.

I check him every day and he just sits there under the substrate and do nothing.

thats normal for pac mans...he will emerge when he is hungry, it has been recorded that they can stay under for weeks and then just pop up to eat one night

Funny, I posted the same question recently. My pac had eaten his first large mouse and hasn't eaten since then. Would you believe me if I told you that was 6.5 weeks ago? Lol I understand why you would be worried, I was there too. As long as he isn't losing weight and it is moist and not too hot, you should be fine.

I mist him every other day so he/she can't dry out and my temp is around 25° C.

Must say that he/she looks pretty angry when I dig him up to check him/her

It's good to have other ppl to ask when something like this happens, this is my first PacMan so I'm not that experienced yet.

His/her name is Marty Feldman, my mother choosed that name because of the eyes.

Yeah, they do have an angry look about them. Check out Benny:

That's good to hear.

As I said in an earlier post this is my first PacMan and I'm not that good at this yet.

ur best just leaving it alone when its burried under the substrate, u stress it out a lot by digging it up, its perfectly normal for them to do this

try reading some online care sheets , pacman frogs burrying themselves/brumating is well documented and these are the kinda things u need to know to look after ur frog well

ginevive Sep 13, 2004 06:19 AM

Uh, that is perfectly normal horned frog behavior. They are definately Not active frogs; they can bury themselves for weeks at a time sometimes. Mine does this, and only comes out after a defecation, and then she'll usually just bury herself in another spot in the tank.
It would help to keep the substrate moist (NOT sopping wet though) so the frog does not dehydrate while buried.
