skittish pacman

carafusinato Sep 12, 2004 11:59 PM

OK . . . I couldn't stand it. Herman, my first pacman, is doing so well devouring crickets, growing, bathing, burrowing, and being pretty cool about everything . . . I went to the better petstore in town and saw a small cute pacman. Couldn't help it. Now, we have two. I notice that this one is pretty skittish. The first one just takes it all in stride. The second one won't eat in front of me, freaks when someone approaches, and generally is pretty high strung. I assume with time the little one will get used to me and settle down, but has anyone else noticed that some of them are just laid-back and some are high strung?

PS -- they are NOT in the same tank . . . for obvious reasons. And the little one DID eat two pinhead crickets while no one was watching, so it IS eating, and it DID bathe also while no one was watching. I am fairly certain it is healthy . . . just really skittish.

any reptile/amphibians/fish can be prone to stress during transit and then being put into an unfamiliar enviroment, all animals will have their own 'personality' like us so it may take longer than others, for example i recently got 5 african dwarf frogs, they ate 1st day and by 2nd day they were hand feeding, but on the other hand when i got my kissing gouramis for my larger fish tank they were very shy, hiding in the plants 95% of the time and darting about the tank when people walk past, this lasted about 3 weeks

i reckon with time it will become more 'brave', i have heard of some however that wont ever eat in front of people, time will tell :P

I also have two pacmans and they are exactly like yours my male is really laid back and calm, and when i clean his tank he will let me pick him up with no problems, on the other hand my female is very skittish and will burrow all the way under the substrate when someone enters the room, and will bite you if you put your hand in the cage to pick her up or feed her, I think they're just like people they all have different personality's.
