I have one that does stupid things like that too, but. It only takes every 3rd or 4th meal down because of being retarded like that. It will mess and mess with it and then give up. I have tryed small items, one large, the whole nine yards. I am convinced it is RETARDED......lol. What can you do? I feel like it is a big accomplishment when it does get some food down. Like a proud pappa. It has decent size for it's age, its just stupid.
Here are a few pics of her.

Shes pretty enough but what do you expect? She IS a sibling to my "Blonde Anery" LOL...

I have this one boa that is the most picky feeder in the world. She will eat fine for 3 or 4 feedings, but then she wont feed for maybe 2 weeks or so. She not skinny or unhealthy looking. Shes actually very robust - weird lol. Whats even more strange, is she will not eat her food if its place inside her cage, you can tease her with it and she will just move away, you can put it RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER FACE even touching her mouth and she will move away... it seems the only time she will eat, is if i place her in a small container.. like a small rubbermaid or a bucket (yup thats right, a bucket) and place her food in there with her...

Ive done all the tricks in the book to get her to feed but this is what works HAHA. Shes the only one of my boas like this... its a love hate relationship

Great picture, lol!Check this one out I have a 3 year old male that is 6 ft if not over he eats 3 small/medium rats every 7 to 10 days!Well I have tried giving him one then bringing the other when he was finished with it but that seemed to take him forever! So last night I just knocked all 3 rats in the head made sure they were dead an not stunned an laid them in their,he reticulated around the one then when he thought it was dead he let go an started eating it so I left the room an come back again in a half hour an he had spit the one out an grabbed another, lol crazy snake,oh it gets better,I came back again in about another half an hour thinking heck he had to have ate the one right,no way,he spit that one out an grabbed the first one he had!I looked at him an told him you are weird, lol,He eventually ate that one then the next an then the final one but dang it took him 2 hours too eat them,I dont know if he got excited about what one he wanted to eat first or which one tased better, lol,I believe I will go back to the one at a time route! Thanks for listening!Eric![Hypoboa

Eric...A helpful & friendly FYI regarding your terminology with respect to reticulation. I realize you were likely thinking of reticulate as a synonymous description of constriction, and just thought I would help a bit in pointing out the correct term. The proper term is constriction. Constriction is the act of coiling and subsequently "tightening" of the muscles to asphyxiate the prey.

Reticulate is usually used in herpetology with reference to a color pattern, which has linear markings resembling the meshes of a net (Peters 1964). (ie..reticulated python)

With respect to feeding techniques, IMHO, you're much better off to offer one prey item of the proper girth than to require your snake(s) to go through a long drawn out process of repetitious efforts to obtain a satisfactory sized meal. Less stressing and helpful to your snake to swallow just one prey item as opposed to several. Just my own personal opinion based on my own experience...less stressful and time consuming for the animals. HTH!
