I'm having a hell of a time finding info on this. The Fiji Island banded iguana. Are they illegal in the states? Can they be imorted from Europe where they are captive born? Can anybody give me a site where I might be able to get more info?

They are an endangered species and therefore only allowed to be with specially permitted humans, such as a zoo.
I read they were being captive bred in Europe. I believe by private collectors not zoos. Do the same endangered laws apply to captive bred specimens?
Here is a link that may help.

I've seen that site. Doesn't clear much up for me. I'm talking about an import from Europe. I read in Reptile magazine that they were being captive bred there. Germany maybe? I don't remember. Where ever it was they were doing it legally. So is it possible to obtain a pair from a private breeder in Europe? or can I just not have one in the states period? Does anybody know any CITES sites that you don't need a masters degree to understand?
Hi guys,
I'm in Europe and I also own some Fiji iguanas.
Private people in the US are NOT allowed to import/keep this species in captivity.
I attached a pic of my 4 month old pair.

According to the cities laws the captive born in Europe would only be Cities 2 animals and by their standards importable.Unfortunately you will proabbly never get permits.I wanted to do this with Aruba Island rattlesnakes and the run around from USFW is just overwhelming.
