eggbound and hole digging

sillyjackson Sep 13, 2004 11:32 AM

From you guys' experience... Does aneggbound chameleon ever dig holes, or do they just sit around looking sick? Or is it that they do dig holes, its just that they can't lay? What about laying a few eggs, and then retaining a few, does that fall under eggbinding as well?

I could answer yes to just about all your questions. I've had eggbound veileds dig holes & die while digging. I've also had them to just sit there looking sick. And I've also had some that has layed some eggs, but still retain the rest of the clutch. My females that have layed only partial clutches usually drop the rest out onto the cage floor. But sometimes it takes a week for the last one to drop out. I've had others to die because a retained egg has rotted inside.
My best advice to you is to take your female to a qualified vet.
