Rage, his future girlfriend

Last one . . . She's not as "Zen" as he is, but I'm sure she'll tame down fine. She just ate a rat pup in this pic.

Kitt, nice reds man! Looks like you've been busy collecting snakes! We told you they were addicting, keep it up!

Thanks, Jordan! Yeah, they're definitely addicting. I already have a mile-long wish list for short-tails alone.

Looks like you've got a pretty rad collection of Borneos going . . . Any breeding projects in your future?

How many do you have now? It seems like you went from one to a bunch! I probably wont attmept any breeding til the season after this. One of my males is full grown and I have a nice female that could go this season... but Im not planning on it. The rest are new all new aquisitions.. so they will be awhile..

Hey,

Yeah, I kinda did go from one to a bunch, and this'll be it for awhile. I've now got three short-tails (Fury, Tao, and Rage) a burm, a ball python, and a little Kenyan sand boa. We built kind of a heated display case for them which works really well (of course, the case won't last the burm for much longer since they grow so fast).

I also breed hamsters and rats . . . As you can imagine, I've got very tolerant roommates!

Obviously I'm not going to be breeding by reds for quite awhile, since they're still just babies . . . Have you ever bred snakes before? It'll certainly be a new adventure for me in a couple of years, when Tao and Rage are ready.

Gonna regret that one for a while. Glad to see she's settling in & chowing down for you Kitt! Can't wait to see her all grown up.

Best,

K

Life's been a little hectic lately!!! Right now I'm taking time off from some of the smaller shows to get other stuff done.

Hope you had a good time!

Thanks, Kara! What blew me away was Tao's gentle little feeding method . . . I've never had a snake do that before (just swallow the food right off the tongs). I wonder if he'll do that again this week.

I have a few that do that - fingers crossed that he stays so gentle for you.

He's such a sexy boy!

I've got my fingers crossed too. They had their first handling session earlier this afternoon -- he was tame as a kitten, kept him out for about fifteen minutes, and Rage didn't strike at all either, though I kept her out for less time.

Here's hoping he stays that way!!

( . . . And here's ESPECIALLY hoping that neither of them develop the glass-striking habit that my older blood has > )
