Ball with possible problem...help

thesweetestmelly Sep 13, 2004 02:54 PM

While playing with and holding my ball for the past month I've heard popping sounds coming from his head. At first I thought it was his breathing or something, but now I can actually feel popping back a few inches in front of his vent when he moves. My husband thought it could be gas because he was constipated for a while. (never thought a snake would have that problem)hehehe

What do you guys think is wrong and do you think it is serious enough to take him to the vet? He doesn't seem to be bothered by it, he acts the same as he did before I noticed the noise.

Thanks for your help in advance

a pic of him taken yesterday with my cam phone during climb on me time hehehe

infection. I would check to see if there is any white cheesy substance in the animals mouth and keep an eye out for any discharge from the nostrils. Also, if you here a wheezing sound from the snake that would add to my suspisions of a URI. It probably would not hurt to take the animal to a QUALIFIED reptile vet for a check. If it is indeed an upper respiratory there are a few medications that will help (baytril etc..) as well as raising the ambient temperatures to assist in the animals healing process. You will also have to keep the snake well hydrated. Good luck.
