Opinions, please

Rottenweiler9 Sep 13, 2004 09:48 PM

Well, I have been doing my home work here and have asked a lot of people, but I figure what the heck and get some more opinions on this.

As you can tell by my post below, I am either going to get a dwarf retic or a super tiger. I like the size of the dwarf, but I have read good things about tigers, that they are the best as far as disposition.

I do have a burm, that is almost two years old and 9 ft 40 pounds, she had some feeding issues when I first got her but now pounding bunnies. I have a boa and a ball as well.

So, let me know what you all think, and if you could give me sizes on your supers and age if you have one, I would appreciate it.

Thank you
Jeff

I have raised and bred my Kayuadi retics now for over six years and i do like the attitude and ease of caring for the animals as babies to adult. I have never been bitten other than by an errant baby in the first month. aside from the feeding response which is often very powerful, they much better fit my ideal as a large breeder pet- being very individual, regal and respect worthy, yet not so big that i yet need a posse of spotters to clean, change water or feed the collection. Keep in mind i am 6-2, 270- not your average intermediate keeper.

Yea some say size doesn't matter with anything. I think it is alot easier when you are big to deal with these snakes. I bet it is hard for the smaller people (no disrespect) that are not as strong. I am nealry 6'5" 280lbs so it helps a lot to be real strong while moving a lot of dead weight. But I know there are smaller people out there that do a real good job so I am not daying anything bad or disrepsectful.

I really don't see where an animal having a specific patern is going to make it more docile. If you want to buy a tiger because of looks I say go for it. However I don't think you are going to find them easier to work with than any other cb retic. Retics just get so huge so fast, I personally would recomend gettign one that's a little smaller as your first. maybe get a female dwarf, and the if you like her after a year or so, get yourself a male tiger or super. Then you can make dwarf tigers.

I think that they are less aggro because of the gene pool. Not realy the pattern but you know like.. I cannot explain what I mean in understandable words. soemoen else try it. Maybe give a better nanswer than me.
