redtail isn't doing so well

gselm Sep 13, 2004 11:15 PM

I have a young redtail that is about two feet long. It has a beatiful pattern, but it isnt doing very well. He still eats really well but seems to keep on losing weight. It just doesn't make sense. When I got him, he was very healthy and eating well. Now he has been dropping weight to the point that I am very concerned. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong or if there is anything I can do I would appreciate.

It could be from parasites, stress, husbandry issues, etc. We don't have much info to go on from your post. Without seeing the boa and knowing how it is cared for we can't tell you anything. Do the boa and yourself a favor and take it to a vet. It shouldn't cost you much and you'll feel better knowing you did the right thing.

Are you actually weighing him or just assuming he`s looseing weight ?
How much weight is lost per week ?
