Reguritated meal.

Hetfield6J Sep 14, 2004 12:15 AM

I've had my ball for about 3 months now. He/she eats a F/T large mouse every 5-7 days. Fed in seperate enclosure, has had about 10 or so meals since i had him. Never had any feeding problems untill now. Last night he had a his normal meal, mouse being maybe a tad bit smaller then normal. Anyways, he ate it up, gave him about 20 min to himself, and moved him back to his enclosure, like normal.

When i got home from work tonight, i was very upset to find he reguritated the mouse. His enclosure completly stunk. I took him out, cleaned his tank and everything in it, and actually had to throw out his wood hide because i couldnt get the smell out of it.

Any idea's on whats wrong? I'm thinking it could be parasites maybe? I will make a vet appointment as soon as i get a chance, but i am going to be gone for a few days this weekend, so wont be able to do it till early next week.

He seems fine tonight, was cruising around abit. His cage temps stay at about 80-82 during the day, UTH gets the ground under one hide to 90, and temps at night drop to about 76-79, but his UTH stays on all night.

Regurges stink like nothing else. Yuck! Corns are more likely to regurge than balls~ but as you've noted~ it happens with the balls too.

It could be parasites~ and if it happens again I would certainly suggest a vet appt. In the mean time~ do not feed for at least 10 days (give time for stomach acids to develop and throat to heal) I think your temps may be a bit low at night~ cool temps may have made digestion difficult causing the regurge. Also~ try draping a towel over the tank~ that tank is very open and I could see a passing person or pet being mistaken for a predator from in there.

Good luck!

I would get a digital thermometer from Wal mart. And replace those stick ons. They are not accurate.
