Hello everyone. In July I’m going to New Mexico on a Boy Scout trip. We will be at Philmont Boy Scout camp in northern New Mexico. I’ll be taking a train to so it will be a long ride (I live in Indiana). I’ve never been in the western part of the country so it should be an enjoyable ride. If I can stay awake.
We will be hiking in the mountains about 10-15 miles a day with like 80-pound packs for a week straight. That’s the bad part, but the good part is that I will see some nice scenery, wildlife, and hopefully that wildlife includes Hognose snakes! I am also looking forward to seeing other types of reptiles that are not so common around here. It’s going to be tough, but it should be fun. If anyone has any tips for spotting hognose snakes or other reptiles please share. If I can get some photographs I will post them. But I don’t think I’ll be able to take our nice camera with because we have to pack light. Plus my mom would be real mad if I ruined her $500 camera.
Has anybody else been in this area? What’s it like? It's still a ways away, but I'm getting anxious. Thanks.
