tobassmaster Sep 14, 2004 04:27 PM

Are any of you guys and gals owners or breeders of the Ctenosaura hemilopha conspicuosa. I am planning on purchasing a pair of them in the next to weeks and want to now if the price I am going to pay is fair.
Thx
Stephen

I just spent some time this last weekend with Chris Lee and his beautiful pair of conspics. They are awesome lizards and he's lucky I didn't steal them! If you are looking to purchase some from the ones advertised in the classifieds right now, I think this pair came from the same breeder. Chris seems to think it's a fair price. I'd have to agree after spending time with these two. Monty the male in the back, Daisy the female in the foreground.

Hi Jane, Those are great pics of the pair. Where were you guys this weekend? I was at the Anaheim show here in So.Cal Telling everyone that my eggs are pretty much hatching. Well, I'm still waiting, I am baffled, as far as the past history of my conspicuosa, they should be out? Hi Chris, they look great. KB

We were at the small local show in Taylor, MI. I do an educational and adoption table at that show every month and Chris often comes and hangs out or helps. I was so pleased that he brought Monty and Daisy for me to see but was disappointed that I couldn't bring them home. Beautiful animals and Chris has done a great job with them. They have a nice temperament as well as being gorgeous.

It was good to see you in Daytona. We need to talk! LOL I did pick up a yearling female Rhino that was in sad shape...dehydrated, undernourished, and regrowing her tail. She has the most amazing blue feet tho! She's eating like a champ and filling out nicely now. I may have to give up the baby that I got from John since it's starting to look like a male and I just don't have the space to keep 3 adult male Rhinos here.

Will you be in Tinley Park next month? Hope to see you there.

Jane, you can call me at 310-351-8489. I wish I could go to the Tinley park show, I was trying to find someone I could help, but I will probably be out of town that weekend anyway. Bye. KB

It's disappointing that you won't be in Chicago. I'll give you a call soon. Did you ever capture the neighborhood roaming Rhino? Did she lay?

Kevin,
Did you have a table or were you helping out Kevin D?

I went there (Anaheim) hoping to see baby cyclura cornuta. I fell in love with Jane's Scrub and have rhino on the brain :D It'll be a while before I get one due to time constraints with my job but at least in the meantime, I wanted to do the research and determine my level of committment to one.

I'm hoping to head to Tinley, but again work is a determining factor.

I talked to Kevin at the Anaheim show last weekend. I am waiting for his eggs to hatch. I thinking of picking up a trio but I was wondering if it is possible to accurately sex them when they are that young.

I think they are sexable or their is something else involved. Not knowing if it would work, I separated them by head size. So far it seems to be real accurate. My pairs were always pairs and one group of six ended up being a 3.3. Maybe they are like some monitors and determine their own sex? KB

I am plaing on buying two or three of your hatchling Ctenosaura hemilopha conspicuosa and I think my friend Dan is planning on buying one. I hope they hatch soon.Do they do well in trios or is it better to house them individually? Also what size cage would you recomend for the three adults. Sorry about all the questions but I am just kind of excited. Thanks for your advice.

Chris has done an excellent job of keeping them healthy.

Just how many places do you think you can find these rare gems to buy legally ? If your getting it from KWE, you are getting a more than fair price.
