Axanthic? Arctic? Any other guesses?

Do you have any history as to how it started out looking and if it suddenly changed?

Does it now or to your knowledge has it ever had patternless sheds?

hermitcore Sep 14, 2004 08:03 PM

It has looked that way since the day it was imported many years ago. I never asked about the sheds and I guess I'll find out sometime soon. I'll keep you posted.

Many many imports come in like that and will gain their color back when they start feeding again.

Good luck if it proves out, but it's not "new", sorry.

axanthic is grey,
arctic is white and black
Xanthic is typically more of a goldish color

What that snake is displaying is reduced melanin and xanthin overall, it could be genetic, it could be from poor nutrition, as is displayed by many imported animals. It's actually quite common among the imported adults, many of them gain their color back as they start to eat better.

Thanks for the wrong guess, but he's been in captivity and eating for around 8 years. He eats quite well on rats and is just shy of 2000 grams.

Ok, so IF it proves out, it's a blonde ghost, NOT a new morph, and you have a very nice $300 ish snake. It is far from rare, as the replies of other people seeing the same type of color/pattern should indicate to you.

hermitcore Sep 16, 2004 06:42 PM

Are you just angry because you don't have anything nice? I've never heard of a blonde ghost and haven't seen them on any websites. Feel free to post a photo of a ball that looks identical to mine. I am yet to see one. The only thing this guy looks similar to is the RDR Arctic ball. The other people posting that they have something similar I have contacted and they sent me photos of light colored normals. I have light normals too, this is not one. As far as $300 goes...I could easily get a few grand for him on Kingsnake I'm sure. I'm going to try to prove him out and see if I get lucky. I won't lose any sleep if I don't.

Feel free to continue to bash away, you obviously have nothing better to do. :D

First off let me remind you that you started the flaming. Second, I've seen the arctic ball in person, it's nearly pure white with a hint of yellos and lots of grey wash on it's sides. Don't get me wrong your snake is close, but has far too much yellow in it. I'd go through the trouble of posting pics of blonds and blonde ghost, but you'd just say they don't look anything like your snake and flame me some more, so good luck to you.

I know someone that has a female that looks very similiar to that. They have had it for around 8 years and I hope to have her breed this year and see what comes out. I will post a better picture when i get the chance again...with a better camera. But I recieved the same response you did...I know what I see is something way different than normal.

I hope they are not normal, but they look similar to normals I've seen that lost color after a shed. This is just a thought, I really have no idea.

Good luck,

A guy at the White Plains show last weekend had some very similar animals.
I can't remember who it was.
He had a male and female, but the female had a burgundy hue in the black.
He didn't know what to call them either.

Very nice animals though, both his and yours.
Hope it proves out for you.
