Albino female to albino 100%het granite male what will the offspring be. Sorry for the simple question but it gets confusing for me.
You are truely wasting the 100% granite by breeding it with a normal. You should really consider getting another het for granite. Anyway, the resulting offspring would be all albino 25% het for granite. You see aproximately 1/4 of the offspring will be het for granite and the other 3/4 will be normal albino but you will not be able to identify the het from the non-het. Therefore all the babies will be albinos 25% het for granite. Hope this helps, Todd
Not to worry i have a female Granite 100% het albino and a female Granite 66.6% het albino and i only ask this because that is the only male i have at this time to breed with any of my females. I figure why waste an extra clutch!
By breeding an albino to an albino 100% het granite...you will get all albino...all 50% poss het for granite. Most of the time, you can pick out the het granites by their pattern, so I think that you are in good shape. Albinos that are het granite look great.

If you breed an albino with an albino het for granite the offspring will not be 50% het for granite. Granite is a simple recessive trait and being het for it states that it only has one granite gene. The other snake has no granite gene. Therefore when you breed them together only one in four of the offspring will have the granite gene. The other 3 out of four will not have it. I am not sure how you get the 50% because I know you are up on this genetics thing, Tom, but I think you are mistaken here. If both parents were het for granite then 50% of the offspring would be get for granite and 25% would be granite and 25% would be normal. Since their is only one parent with the granite gene then it would only be 25% (some say 33%). And to state that you can visually identify a het granite, I know you can usually but to honastly portray them as hets would be misleading since you truely do not know. Not trying to stir up anything jsut trying to clarify my thoughts. Todd
If you breed a normal to another animal that is 100% het for granite... statisticlly, 50% of the offspring will be het for granite.
If you breed a het to a het...statisticlly...you have a 66% chance that each normal looking baby is het for granite.
With one of the parents being het for the trait...he or she can donate either the normal gene or the granite gene to every offspring. That means that each baby will have a 50% chance of getting the granite gene for the het parent.
Nn X NN = 50% Nn (het) and 50% NN (normal).

So im going to have all albinos and 50% will be a visible het for granite Right. To get my Granite 66% het albino Her parents were Granite both Het for albino Right? I just want to clearify the answer Thanks again for all the input.
You could refer back to my first response to answer your question...but here it is again.
If you breed and albino to an albino that is 100% het for granite, you will produce all albinos each of which has a 50% chance of being het for granite. Like I mentioned before you can tell most of the time which ones are the hets by comparing them to the others. It's not an exact science...and you certainly should not sell them as definite het for granite.
To answer your question about your 66% poss het...if both parnets are het for a trait, each normal looking offspring has a 66% chance of being het for that trait.
