Shedding question

nornor888 Sep 14, 2004 06:59 PM

Greetings,
I just want to know how often my snake is supposed to shed. Is there a difference in shedding between baby snakes and adult snakes? My snake shed about 2 weeks ago, then it got all dull and the eyes got cloudy so I thought it was going to shed again. It even had less of an appetite for about 2 days. Then, it didn't shed but the eyes were not cloudy anymore and it began to eat. Odd.
Thanks,
Nor

What you're seeing is normal, and your snake should shed in a few days. The dullness is caused by fluid between the old and the new skin, the fluid is eventually absorbed and the snake looks normal again, but the old skin is now separated from the new skin underneath. The old skin will be shed in the next few days.

You were right! The snake did shed today in the afternoon, but unfortunately we did not get to witness it. The skin is 24 cm long, which is 3 cm longer than the last skin the snake shed. It is growing! When is the next time my snake will shed again?
Thanks for all the help,
Nor
