Ok since Daytona it got me thinking , Depending on where you live how well prepared are you to get your collection in a secure as possible place incase of a Natural disaster such as the following: Hurricane , Flood , Tornado & Fire ?

Last week i had to put in a emergency plan to move my collection due to flooding and a potential dam failure. Since then i have put in a emergency plan to make into fast action for swift movement and safety for my snakes and dog.And now again this weekend we are looking at a flood that will be worse then the last due to saturated grounds and already high lake & river levels. so to every one what is your plan if you have one to ensure your animals safety?

Here is mine:
I now keep the following essentials within spitting distance from my collection.

1- Bought a 1500w power converter to plug into my lighter in my suburban which will run the heating for my snakes incase i need to transport them with me in a emergency

2- I now have made up a emergency heat setup consisting of 4" flexwatt that is attached to a 1x6 which i can lay tubs on during transport in the vehicle and provide the needed heat for them to keep them comfy

3- I keep a emergency large sterilite tub for feeders to go into since i raise my own and it would feed my snakes incase of a prolonged displacement from my home/shop

4- I have two contacts now that are with in 200 miles incase i need to relocate for a extended period of time due to loss of home that would be a reptile friendly housing ( one is a friend who runs his own reptile shop the other is a fellow keeper)

5- i keep a bag packed for my self now and sitting right beside the shop door so the last trip out the door i have enough clothes to last me a week

6- I also have now made a indepth emergency call list of first contacts to call incase i need to evacuate in a hurry

what do you have planned in such a event?
Alan
